The Idea Behind AFROZAN

AFROZAN began with a simple curiosity: to look closer at the stories, symbols, traditions and forms of beauty that make cultures different.

From its beginnings in Iran to its home in Turin, AFROZAN has developed a design language shaped by cultural research, contemporary fashion and Italian craftsmanship.

The pieces may change. The inspiration may come from different places. But the intention remains the same: to discover authenticity, understand its story and give it a new form.

A World Made of Differences

We believe the world is beautiful because its cultures are different.

Every culture carries its own visual language — its colours, symbols, rituals, architecture, crafts and stories.
AFROZAN does not seek to flatten these differences into one universal aesthetic. Instead, we see them as a source of creative richness.
Each collection begins with a fragment of this larger world.

Curiosity Comes First

Before there is a design, there is a question.
Why does this symbol exist?
What story lies behind it?
How was it understood by the people who created it?
And what can it still tell us today?
Research and curiosity are therefore part of the creative process.
We look at history, art, architecture, nature and cultural traditions, searching for details that can become the beginning of something new.

From Heritage to Design

AFROZAN does not reproduce the past.
A historical motif may become a pattern.
An architectural detail may become a composition.
A story may become colour and silk.
Through contemporary design, we transform these references into fashion accessories that can exist in the present.
Heritage becomes a starting point — not a boundary.

The Journey to Turin

AFROZAN began in 2015 in Iran, founded by twin sisters Farzaneh and Forouzan.

After several years of experimentation with handmade fashion pieces and natural fabrics, a new chapter began in 2018 when Forouzan moved to Turin.

AFROZAN was officially established and registered in Italy, creating a meeting point between its Eastern cultural roots and Italian craftsmanship.

From 2019 onward, the brand began developing connections within the European fashion ecosystem through B2B Fashion Match meetings and relationships with European fashion stakeholders.

In 2020, KASHANE was presented at Torino Fashion Week, where AFROZAN was recognised among emerging designers. The collection was subsequently presented through a special pop-up with Rinascente.

AFROZAN was later featured as a Success Story and Good Practice by WEgate, and in 2022 was recognised by Unioncamere Piemonte for its work in sustainability and the circular economy through the CAPRA collection.

These moments became important chapters in AFROZAN's journey — not as destinations, but as signs of a design language gradually finding its place in the European fashion landscape.

The Accessory as a Medium

Since 2023, AFROZAN has increasingly focused on contemporary fashion accessories, including silk scarves, twillies, bandanas and ties.
For us, the accessory is not simply an object to wear.
A square of silk can carry an architectural memory.
A motif can carry centuries of visual language.
A pattern can allow a cultural story to travel from one place to another.
The accessory is our first medium for storytelling.

What remains constant is the philosophy behind them:

Discovering authenticity, narrating culture and transforming it into contemporary design.
